Design and Display
The Samsung Galaxy A8 is the latest mid-to-high end smartphone from the South Korean firm, sliding in below the flagship S series
Bezels have been kept relatively thin though, with the A8’s body measuring 149.2 x 70.6 x 8.4mm. Coupled with curved rear edges, the Galaxy A8 sits nicely in the palm and doesn’t feel too overbearing.
The Samsung Galaxy A8 packs a 5.6-inch full HD Super AMOLED display with an 18:9 aspect ration and 1080 x 2220 resolution.
While it doesn’t have the same curved edges as the flagship S8, the Galaxy A8 still utilizes Samsung’s Infinity Display technology, which helps keeps bezels in check.
Camera
The Samsung Galaxy A8 features three cameras. There’s a single 16MP, f.1.7 snapper on the back, while on the front you’ll find both a 16MP camera alongside an 8MP sensor.
On the front, and the two cameras work together to offer the blurred background effect that Samsung’s calls Live Focus. Live Focus on the front facing dual cameras works well in good light, but on the dimly lit casino floor.
Hardware and processor
Running the show is an Exynos 7785 processor (this will likely be switched for a Snapdragon variation in the USA), along with 4GB of RAM. 32GB storage comes as standard, and the microSD slot accepts cards up to 256GB.
It runs an operating system of Android 7.1.1 (Nougat)
Battery
Regardless of the performance, we are happy with the battery life the phone provides.
The 3050mAh battery goes on for a full day quite easily, even if you are a heavy user and like to stream video content for a couple of hours each day.
Resistant
The phone also features IP68 water and dust resistance along with the Always-On display features that work really well with OLED screens.
Fingerprint
It features a rear fingerprint sensor which is use for security, snapping, browse through pictures etc.
