Design and Display
At 153.2 x 76.1 x 7.6mm, the Note 5 dimensions are certainly bigger than Samsung’s 5.1-inch flagship, but it’s actually a hair smaller and noticeably thinner than the Note 4.
It’s lighter too, at 171g, shedding 5g, even with its metal-and-glass construction. Its back glass also curves inward on the right and left sides. This smaller footprint and curved back made it easier to hold in my palm, despite its phablet size.
The Note 5 has the same 5.7-inch screen with Gorilla Glass 4 as its predecessor, which means you get all the benefits of the 1440×2560 QHD resolution display. It also has the same Wacom digitized layer to help sense the pressure when you pop out the S Pen from its little compartment.
The Note’s Super AMOLED screen is built for watching videos and that’s inevitably where the Note 5 excels.
Camera
The 16-megapixel camera should elicit zero complaints from any user. It’s fast, full-featured, and takes very good photos.
It uses the exact same sensor from the Galaxy S6, though the software has been slightly updated to support more manual controls, offer RAW output, and use OIS in video.
Software and Processor
The Galaxy Note 5 packs the powerful Exynos 7420 processor, which has eight cores and a clock speed of more than 2.1 GHz. It has 4 GB of RAM. As with the Galaxy S6 Edge+, there is only the choice between 32 GB and 64 GB versions. Samsung still runs its TouchWiz UI over the top of its Galaxy series.
It runs an Operating system of Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop), upgradable to 7.0 (Nougat).

Stylus pen
The thing that really makes Samsung’s Galaxy Note range distinct is the S Pen stylus, which is designed to make it easier to draw, take notes and mark up documents on the smartphone.
The Note 5 comes with a new and improved S Pen, which has a finer tip and is pressure-sensitive, enabling users to create more detailed effects.
The smartphone has a number of features designed to take advantage of this, including new “live messages”, which automatically turn hand-written messages into GIFs. For example, you can draw a picture or a route on a map and send it to a friend, and they will see it as if you were drawing it in front of them.
Battery
The Galaxy Note 5 is missing one other feature that’s traditional in the Note series: a removable battery.
The battery is smaller than the Note 4’s too – 3,000 mAh compared with 3,220 mAh. This may look bad on paper, but it doesn’t necessarily indicate worse battery life.
Resistant
It is sad to discover that Samsung galaxy note 5 as no water nor dust resistance.
Fingerprint sensor
Samsung’s fingerprint scanner also makes a return on the Note5. Granted, it’s still not as dependable as Apple’s TouchID, but this year’s take on biometric security seems significantly more reliable than past incarnations.
Given that both Samsung Pay and Google Pay are coming in the next few months, that security is most welcome.
