Design and Display
Though the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active line with their all-plastic builds isn’t new, it has never been as striking as it is in its current iteration.

The thickness of the device really makes it stand out when compared to the sleek and elegant Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, though it can be argued that thickness makes for a more comfortable handling exprience.

This starts with the display, with the Galaxy S6 Active featuring the same as the original, a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with a Quad HD resolution, with its resulting pixel density of 576 ppi.

Camera
Packing the same 16-MP rear camera and 5-MP front shooter as the regular S6, the S6 Active really impressed.

Regardless of the amount of light available, the Active shot bright, vibrant, evenly exposed pictures, although some photos in low light were out of focus or blurry.

Hardware and processor
The S6 Active is essentially identical from a performance and software perspective. The S6 Active scored top marks across the board thanks to its speedy Exynos 7420 processor.

Likewise, the phone benefits from Samsung’s slimmed-down TouchWiz skin running on top of Android 5.0.

Resistant
Speaking of durability, an IP68 rating and a military-grade durability certification means that you can throw practically anything at this phone and still have a working device, which has certainly held true in our testing. Despite some falls and numerous plunges in the water, the Galaxy S6 Active never missed a beat.

Battery
One of the biggest differences between the regular S6 and the S6 Active is the latter’s supersized 3,500-mAh battery. Samsung squeezed in a larger battery so the phone can last you all through your hike.

Fingerprint scanner
The fingerprint scanner in the home button is gone, replaced by three physical buttons – recent apps, home and back – below the display.
