Design and Display
Talking about the Galaxy S6 Edge. Gone is the plastic, gone is the “premium feel”, and in its place is proper industrial design with clever engineering and genuinely premium materials.

And let’s not forget those edges. The S6 Edge has a completely flat back with a metal rim around it, and while this undoubtedly makes it lovely to look at.

The S6 Edge is attractive as a static object, it really shines when the display is on. It’s bright, sharp and clear thanks to the Quad HD 2,560×1,440-pixel resolution and it has that intense colour pop we’ve come to associate with Samsung’s Super AMOLED screens. It packs in a stonking number of pixels — 577 per inch — which quite frankly is unnecessary given the capabilities of the human eye.

The Edge’s display does undeniably make photos and video look stunning, however. The curved edges also make images seem less boxed in by the phone’s bezel and Samsung has done a stand-up job of ensuring they don’t cause distortion

Camera
It is equipped with a remarkable little 16MP sensor loaded with optical image stabilisation and a wide-angle f/1.9 aperture; these two features allow plenty of light in across a range of conditions, and it’s equally at home snapping shots in the day or in lower-light scenarios. It also has an LED flash for when you need it.

The front-facing 5-megapixel selfie camera is also very good, while the heart beat sensor on the back of the phone can be used to trigger a photo.

Hardware and processor
It is furnished with octo-core Exynos 7420 processor which as two quad-core processors combined.

A lower power 1.5GHz chip performs most undemanding tasks and a more powerful, but also more power hungry 2.1GHz chip takes over when needed. As a consequence the Edge is one of the fastest Android smartphones I’ve used to date, with no visible lag.

It runs an operating system of Android 5.0.2 (Lollipop), which is upgradable to 7.0 (Nougat)

Resistant
Galaxy S6 as been proved to be water resistant and not waterproof.

Battery
The flipside of this is the sheer scope of the Galaxy S6 EDGE’s battery performance as is –– it’s literally a powerhouse. The cell is a 2,600mAh unit, just slightly juicier than the regular Galaxy S6’s 2,550mAh deal but that 50mAh difference doesn’t even register.

Fingerprint sensor
Samsung’s fingerprint sensor under the home button is much improved. Instead of requiring users to swipe their fingers over the sensor they simply place their fingers on the sensor, which proves much more accurate. It also smart lock.

Android Lollipop’s smart lock also means that users can unlock their smartphones using a connected Bluetooth device such as a pair of expensive headphones or a smartwatch, locking the smartphone when the Bluetooth device moves out of range and requiring a fingerprint or passcode to access.
